What is a “Hybrid Meeting”?

Hybrid Meetings Definition In Person 1

A hybrid meeting has two audiences. One audience is online and the other audience is at the venue (“in the room”).

The goal is to have both audiences fully engage with each other to share ideas and make decisions.

I’ve discovered a second definition for a hybrid meeting!

This could be when an organization has two in-room meetings that are miles apart but connected to each other over the Internet.

Hybrid Meetings Definition In Person 2 1

In-Room Participants

Some of the audience will arrive in person. This is the meeting most people attended before COVID shut down the world. Facilitators have been planning in-person meetings for centuries.

Online Participants

Some of the audience will connect over the Internet. This meeting was suddenly thrust on the world during the COVID pandemic. There was a scramble for equipment and for people to learn new skills.
